Teaching Ava what she doesn't know she doesn't know

Ava was only as useful as what she knew about the team using her. I designed a training experience that let sales teams teach an AI agent their organizational knowledge, and learned that transparency into what she knows matters as much as the training itself.

Case Study

Discovery that doesn't go stale

Every new deal triggered 2+ hours of research. I designed a feature where Ava runs that research automatically and keeps it current as deals evolve, cutting discovery time by 67% and giving the whole team a shared reference.

Case Study

Meeting prep on autopilot

Sales engineers were spending hours before every call piecing together context from different tools. I designed a feature that made prep automatic, and 12 out of 12 said it saved them significant time going into customer calls.

Interaction Design

Interactions that make Ava feel like a teammate

The interaction patterns that make working with an AI agent feel natural, including artifact editing, conversation accelerators, and reply states.

Stephany is extraordinary and it was both a joy and privilege to work with her. She has brilliant insight and passion for her craft. She's very thoughtful, speaks up, defends her positions, educates, and benefits everyone around her. It has been a real pleasure to work with her.

Joseph Miller, PhD Serial Founder and Scientist, Vivun

Stephany has been an instrumental member of Vivun's AI agent development team. She brought her exceptional expertise in design, user experience, and user research to the table, helping us build a new product from the ground up in an emerging and challenging space. From the initial design phase to ongoing iterations, Stephany demonstrated a remarkable ability to engage deeply with stakeholders. Her efforts ensured the product aligned with the needs of the market, the company, and individual users alike. I highly recommend Stephany to any company seeking a Lead Product Designer. Her skills, commitment, and ability to innovate would be a valuable asset to any team.

John Bruce Co-Founder & CTO, Vivun

Stephany is a high-caliber product professional who would be an invaluable asset to any company. She not only excels in design but also brings a deep passion for crafting user-centric products. Her grit to challenge the status quo and advocate for truth with grace has made a tremendous impact during her tenure at Vivun.

Chen Liang AI Researcher, Vivun

Stephany's passion for shared goals and dedication to end users shines in every project. She brings a rare balance of big-picture vision and attention to detail that any team immediately benefits from. With exceptional communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a talent for aligning engineers, designers, and stakeholders, Stephany keeps everyone on the same page. She consistently delivers clear, practical requirements and user flows that drive meaningful results.

Sajay Shah Senior Software Engineer, Vivun

Stephany has been one of my favorite people to work with in my career. It's always nice when your head of design is willing to lean in and work with other departments and feel like your voice is heard. I have learned so many things about design through Stephany taking the time to answer all of my questions and help me understand best practices. It really is magic when you are able to take unstructured feedback across different teams and turn it into reality and no one does this better than Stephany. She is a Figma wizard and it has been an honor working with the best.

Clay Killgore Senior Sales Engineer, Vivun

On Mystery Machine, Stephany wears multiple hats. She not only crafts elaborate designs that enhance the overall aesthetics of Revel and improve user experience; she also excels in her ability to distill complex ideas and requirements into clear, actionable acceptance criteria. Her contributions have streamlined our development process, resulting in more efficient and effective delivery in development and testing. She brings tremendous value to the team. Her sounds effects while demoing can't be beat.

Kevin Perrine Staff Software Engineer, Vivun

As a newer member of Mystery Machine, Stephany has gone above and beyond to provide support through all Demo Automation design tasks. She was an especially huge help yesterday in spending extra time with me to prep for a design review with external users. Stephany truly exemplifies "We, not Me" in everything she does! She also brings demos to a whole new level with her sounds effects.

Alanna Regan Product Designer, Vivun

You not only proactively bring solutions with a smile which challenge the status quo, but you consider how these solutions can play within the constraints in front of us. Please accept this award as a token of my appreciation and symbol of the great beginnings you've built in a short, unanticipated time. I am stoked to see the greater impact you bring to your career, to the team and to our company moving forward. I'm proud to have you as my colleague. Keep up the great work, Stephany!

Rebecca Green Head of Accounts, IBM

It has been exciting to see Stephany develop into an even stronger visual and detail oriented creator over the past year. Her research skills and her motivation to create beautiful content and creative experiences is without par, and at the same time she is never afraid to admit if she might be stumped or needs help in developing a project to a higher level for the best results. She communicates her opinions and ideas in a clear, thoughtful and productive manner. In addition, she has truly strengthened her leadership skills and taken the lead on many of the tasks assigned to her. Her strength is so, that in some instances she did not need to take the lead, as she was nominated the best candidate to lead particular assignments, given her creativity, expertise and her strong communication and organization skills. Her work and dedication to the Pride & Progress project was what brought the beautiful and engaging execution of the LGBT explainer cheatsheet. This same dedication and excitement in creating out of the box, and creative experiences are what brought the PoC of the BizzBuzz game for CNN as well as her vision of what the Pride & Progress site could have looked like with a different aesthetic and experience perspective. Our conversations and brainstorms, and her excitement in coming up with beautiful and engaging opportunities for the company is truly energizing. She always thrives on providing the best experience to the audience of every project she's involved in.

Damian Prado Creative Director, CNN

Stephany Cardet is a unicorn. I don't know where she finds the hours in the day, but she spends all of them coding. UX and design are her passion and it shows. Last year she completed fourteen interactives on her own. She works closely with design, editorial and video in order to tell long-form stories for a mobile first audience. Every element is carefully picked and never does she repeat a trick. Stephany is constantly pushing herself to come up with new ideas and challenge the way she thinks about storytelling. Perhaps even more importantly, Stephany works well under pressure and always finds ways to bridge the divide with nearly every one she interacts with. Stephany is admired by the highest levels of management and respected by all of her peers. She is a shining star and I can't wait to see what she does with her extraordinary talents and drive to tell great stories in the most interesting of ways.

Cullen Daly Executive Producer, CNN

Stephany Cardet is a natural leader. In her role as a UI / UX Designer / Developer she has grown leaps and bounds. What started as a position dedicated to building bespoke landing pages evolved into curating experiences that are meant for any screen anywhere. Stephany is fast. Stephany is independent. Stephany is one of the most organized individuals I've ever met. Beyond all of that, she is a delight to work with. The entire Digital Labs team looks up to Stephany and her ability to tell stories through code.

  1. Simplicity always wins

The best solution is the one the user barely has to think about.

  2. Start with the problem, not the solution

The real work is figuring out what the customer actually needs. Start there and everything you build has a reason.

  3. Ship something real, then make it better

Every feature is different. Simple, well-understood patterns deserve speed. Complex, unfamiliar ones deserve more testing before they ship.

  4. Design is a team sport

Engineers join early. Acceptance criteria are written so anyone can build from them. Feedback loops stay open. The best work happens when the whole team is in the room, and how you run the process is the proof.
